SoftwareReviews Usage and Attribution Policy

This policy pertains to all customers of SoftwareReviews services. For the purpose of this report:

  • "SoftwareReviews" refers to SoftwareReviews.com Inc.,

  • "Vendor" refers to the purchaser of services, and

  • "Vendor Partner" refers to your primary sales contact at SoftwareReviews.

1.1 Reprints & Distribution of Published Reports

Reprint, distribution, or otherwise sharing of any document or portion of any document is prohibited in any format without prior written permission from SoftwareReviews. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Press releases, blog posts, and articles

  • External marketing collateral

  • Posting complete or partial documents on an internet or intranet site

  • Emailing complete or partial documents to partners or external contacts

1.2 Attribution Guidelines

The only proper way to reference SoftwareReviews when providing attribution is by using our full company name, “SoftwareReviews.”

The following are acceptable attribution formats:

  • SoftwareReviews analyst or spokesperson: According to John Doe, title, SoftwareReviews

  • SoftwareReviews research document: SoftwareReviews, [Title of Research Document], Year of Publication

  • Info-Tech Research Group analyst or spokesperson: According to John Doe, title, Info-Tech Research Group

  • Info-Tech Research Group research document: Info-Tech Research Group, [Title of Research Document], Year of Publication

1.3 Excerpts From SoftwareReviews Reports for Use in Vendor Marketing Programs

For distribution of all licensed content and reports:

  • All content must be approved by SoftwareReviews before publication.

  • All excerpts must be included verbatim, in their entirety, and appear accurately with all relevant context. Paraphrasing is not allowed.

  • Quotes must include the full sentence you wish to excerpt or, if in bullet form, the complete thought.

  • Proper attribution for all excerpts must be given to SoftwareReviews and the original research source.

  • Comparative wording that is not included in the original report and is not the expressed opinion of SoftwareReviews may not be used, for example, “Leading Champion,” “best,” “highest,” ”coolest,” etc.

  • Any press release discussing SoftwareReviews reports must contain the SoftwareReviews boilerplate as it appears in the Press Release Guidelines below.

1.4 Press Release Guidelines for SoftwareReviews Reports

You may share your achievement in a press release and/or blog post on your site. Your achievement must be referenced as being “listed as a (ranking) in “SoftwareReviews’ [Date] [SoftwareReviews Category] [Report Type] Report.”

  • For example: SoftwareReviews’ 2020 Business Intelligence Data Quadrant Report

When discussing the parameters of the ranking, please include the following:

  • “SoftwareReviews reports evaluate and rank products based on feedback from technology and business leaders and end users. Evaluations and rankings are proudly 100% founded in user review data and are free of traditional non-data-driven components such as analyst opinion.”

The following SoftwareReviews boilerplate must be included at the end of your press releases. This includes the linkback to the SoftwareReviews website. You may link to your offering page or your award page in lieu of the SoftwareReviews home page.

SoftwareReviews may provide an analyst quote for your press release when requested. All quotes must be printed as provided and are subject to the attribution guidelines as defined in Section 1.2.

1.5 Quoting SoftwareReviews Ratings and Results

You may share your rankings and results, provided you backlink to the appropriate SoftwareReviews award page announcement or your offering page. Your achievement must be referenced as being “listed as a (ranking) in “SoftwareReviews’ [Date] [SoftwareReviews Category] [Report Type] Report.”

  • For example: SoftwareReviews 2020 Business Intelligence Data Quadrant Report

1.6 Digital Distribution of SoftwareReviews Reports

For digital distribution of all SoftwareReviews reports you will be provided a link to a hosted copy of your report by SoftwareReviews. Links are provided on request by your SoftwareReviews Vendor Partner.

Links can be used with or without lead capture information at the request of the Vendor. All leads captured through our portal will be passed on unaltered to the Vendor.

In all cases, distribution of all reports, graphics, and images are valid for the licensing term pursuant to the contract between the Vendor and SoftwareReviews.

1.6.1 Posting the Product Report

Subject to the purchase of distribution rights to the Vendor Product Report, the Vendor is welcome to condense the deck but must include the following pages:

  • The front cover page of the report with SoftwareReviews branding, indicating the category/product being reviewed and the date of the report

  • The Executive Summary

All other pages may be eliminated in their entirety at the Vendor’s discretion. Changes can be made via request to your SoftwareReviews Vendor Partner.

1.6.2 Posting the Data Quadrant Report

Subject to the purchase of distribution rights to the Data Quadrant, the Vendor is welcome to condense the deck but must include the following pages:

  • The front cover page of the report with SoftwareReviews branding, indicating the category being reviewed and the date of the report

  • The Data Quadrant page, unaltered and in its original form

  • The Category Overview page

All other pages may be eliminated in their entirety at the Vendor’s discretion. Changes can be made via request to your SoftwareReviews Vendor Partner.

1.6.3 Posting the Emotional Footprint Report

Subject to the purchase of distribution rights to the Emotional Footprint Report, the Vendor is welcome to condense the deck but must include the following pages:

  • The front cover page of the report with SoftwareReviews branding, indicating the category being reviewed and the date of the report

  • The Emotional Footprint Diamond Graphic

  • The Emotional Footprint Summary

All other pages may be eliminated in their entirety at the Vendor’s discretion. Requested changes can by submitting a detailed request to your SoftwareReviews Vendor Partner.

1.7 Distribution and Usage of Software Reviews Graphics, Images, and Awards

All graphics, including the Data Quadrant, Emotional Footprint Diamond, Award Badges, and Databites graphics, and all other SoftwareReviews branded images may be used in unlimited format, digital and otherwise, after reprint distribution rights have been purchased and content has been approved by SoftwareReviews.

When displaying any SoftwareReviews graphics, you must meet the following requirements:

  • The Data Quadrant and Emotional Footprint graphics must be displayed in their entirety and maintain the integrity of the original graphic.

  • All graphics and awards must follow the attribution guidelines described above.

  • Formatting changes such as color and font size must be approved by SoftwareReviews. Changes will be declined if they challenge the integrity of the original graphic.

  • The graphic must be attributed to SoftwareReviews and the specific SoftwareReviews report to which the graphic belongs.

  • Award badges, Databites, and all other licensed SoftwareReviews graphics may be used by the Vendor for all online and offline content, in unlimited usage, for the duration of the distribution agreement. High-resolution images are available from SoftwareReviews.

  • If you have earned a SoftwareReviews Award, you may publish it on your website, provided you link back to the SoftwareReviews website. The link may be to the Vendor Offering page, Category Award page, or main SoftwareReviews award page. The link to the award page will be provided by your SoftwareReviews Vendor Partner.

  • When using Databites, awards, and other materials on social channels, all materials should reference SoftwareReviews and include a link back to the SoftwareReviews home page, softwarereviews.com. This may be substituted for a link back to the award page for the specific award you received.

1.8 Vendor Portal – Guidelines for Product Listings

We encourage all vendors to make their product pages their own by adding custom content and collateral. Within the Vendor Portal you can add:

  • Videos, including product demos and customer testimonials

  • Screenshots of your product in operation

  • Downloadable content (PDFs, Word documents, Excel tools)

You can load up to 12 pieces of content per section; however, we recommend a maximum of 20 pieces in total.

Once access is granted to the portal, SoftwareReviews does not take responsibility for the quality of the content posted to your page; however, we reserve the right to take down any content we deem offensive or inappropriate.

1.9 Info-Tech Research Group Research and Vendor Consulting Services

Info-Tech is well positioned to help technology vendors meet their strategic goals through a wide variety of services, leveraging existing research assets, methodologies, and deep expertise across topics, industry verticals, and market segments.

SoftwareReviews provides Vendors the opportunity to engage with Analysts and Consultants at its sister company, Info-Tech Research Group, on a variety of existing and tailored content purpose-built to assist with marketing, sales, and product development efforts.

Licensing of any Info-Tech Research Group branded content will be governed by this Usage and Attribution policy.
